Dream Work

Dream Catchers
Dream catchers originated with the Native American clans of the Ojibwe. Legend says that the spider woman wove tiny dream catchers on the tops of cradle boards to ensure that babies slept peacefully. Bad dreams became entangled in the web and only happy ones filtered through. The sleeping babies clapped their hands for joy and no harm ever came to them. When dawn came and the first rays of sunlight appeared, the bad dreams broke free and returned to the place of shadows. The spider woman later taught her magical secrets to the wise grandmothers, who taught their daughters to weave magical webs for their babies, using willow hoops and sinew or cord from plants.
